Past Fundraising Efforts
Unfortunately, PAL was not able to hold any major fundraising events during the COVID pandemic. But we are able to hold some great events prior to that. Here is a sample of three wonderful events.
Food and Wine Pairing Gala Evening
Riverwood Square on Pembina Highway and their helpful staff provided us with a memorable PAL (55+) fundraising event. We all enjoyed quite a party – the food, the beverages, the music, and fun times with friends. Who says that seniors can’t dance up a storm? And a tour of their display suite upstairs in the residence was a real treat! Many dedicated PAL (55+) volunteers helped out – taking tickets, providing directions at the entrance, taking photos, or selling 50/50 tickets during the evening.
Sisters of the Holy Rock Concert
207 PAL members, family and friends attended the Sisters of the Holy Rock concert on April 27. The Sisters did an outstanding job and a great time was had by all, plus we raised almost $5,000 for PAL! The audience appreciated the “Sisters” (and brothers) musicality, humour and polished performance. The uplifting music and joyful spirit of the “Sisters” inspired a standing ovation. An event like this required many volunteers – ticket sellers, people who put up posters, people who worked at the event as greeters, ticket sellers, ticket takers and ushers, etc.
Fundraising Dinner
On November 1, 2016 PAL (55+) held its fourth annual Fundraising Dinner at the Canad Inns Fort Garry with 140 people attending. The proceeds raised from this dinner went to the PAL (55+) Building Fun for a future home for our membership. We were very pleased to welcome Ray St. Germain as the evening’s entertainment, who delighted the guests with many old-time favourties.
A dedicated Dinner Committee met over the summer months to plan this event. The business community generously supported our Fundraising Dinner as we were able to put together 25 amazing gift baskets for door prizes. We added to our fundraising with the Dufresne Furniture Raffle ($2,000 Gift Card). This event took a lot of volunteer effort but reaped benefits financially and socially. Everyone had a good time.
Future Fundraising Events
Now that things are returning to normal after COVID, PAL is beginning to plan some new fundraising events. If members have any dieas for events or organizational contacts we could approach, we would love to hear from you. Contact Executive Director at ed@pal55plus.ca.
Of course, once we decide on what fundraising events we want to organize, we will require many volunteers to assist with the planning and carrying out of these events. We hope that you will consider helping out. “Many hands make light work.”
