MASC FALL 2021 50/50
Help support your local Senior Centre
Pembina Active Living (55+)
Senior centres are open to all individuals 55 years and older, or retired. Senior centres provide programs that offer core health services, are governed by a community-based board of directors, respond to diverse needs of older persons, hire professionals, provide education, develop innovative programming approaches, and are a community resource for information on aging. Help support PAL (55+) by purchasing 50/50 tickets in the MASC Fall 50/50.
All tickets must be purchased online with a credit card.
The 50/50 will run from September r to November 30th with the Jackpot being drawn on December 1st, 2021.
To purchase your ticket, visit: https://www.fundingchange.ca/masc Remember to choose Pembina Active Living (55+) from the drop-down menu!’

The Great Canadian Giving Challenge results are in and although Pembina Active Living (55+) didn’t win the $20,000 prize from CanadaHelps, PAL (55+) was still a winner, thanks to the generous members who donated $1,105 during the month of June!
And congratulations to the winners in the PAL (55+) draw:
Cameron Buchanan won a Fitbit Versa Gen 1 (courtesy of Blue Cross); and
Clare Simpson won the Golf package (courtesy of City Councillor John Orlikow).
The draw took place on July 2, 2021.
Thank you for your support of PAL (55+)! And please consider donating again next year.
Food and Wine Pairing Gala Evening – September 26, 2019
The rainy weather didn’t keep our guests from attending. We welcomed Terry Duguid (MP, Winnipeg South) and his assistant Lacey Sanders; Janice Morley-Lecomte (MLA, Seine River) and her assistant Stephanie McDowell; and we were sorry to hear that Sarah Guillemard (MLA, Fort Richmond) wasn’t able to use her ticket that evening due to other commitments.
We are always so thankful for the support of our community businesses that provide us with door prizes for our events. Please see the list below of donors and winners.
And of course, we couldn’t function at any of our events without the dedicated PAL (55+) volunteers! Thanks so much for all your help — taking tickets at the Registration Table, providing directions at the entrances, taking photos, or selling 50/50 tickets during the evening.
All tax receipts have been given out, either at the event or mailed or emailed to guests who couldn’t attend.
Sisters of the Holy Rock Concert April 27, 2019
Food and Wine Pairing Gala Evening November 22, 2018
The cold weather didn’t keep our guests from coming out — so much so, that we ran out of coat racks and hangers and had to improvise and stack a few coats in the Games Room. Janice Lukes (City Councillor – Waverley West) and Jon Reyes (MLA – St. Norbert), always welcome guests at any of our events, attended and Lee Fehler came by to represent Terry Duguid (MP – Winnipeg South) who was out of town that day. Sarah Guillemard (MLA – Fort Richmond) wasn’t able to use her ticket that evening due to other commitments.
The highlight of the evening was the introduction of the Pembina Active Living (55+) film. A big shout-out to Alan Wong who is the filmmaker/director of this new venture for us. Pearl Young, age 94, is one of the PAL (55+) members featured in the film and it was delightful that Pearl was able to attend the Wine Pairing and see the premiere showing of the film.
And Linda Rzeszutek was very surprised and honoured (and unusually quiet) when Bob Roehle presented her with an Award of Commitment from the Manitoba Association of Senior Centres (MASC).

We all enjoyed quite a party – the food, the beverages, the music, and time with friends. And who says that seniors can’t dance up a storm! The funds raised will be used to help PAL (55+) enhance the lives of seniors living in South Winnipeg.
Food and Wine Pairing Gala Evening October 2017
A huge thank you to Riverwood Square – Linda Sherrin, General Manager and Heather Malazdrewicz, Director of First Impressions and their wonderful staff for another successful, fun event. And, of course, to Roma Falsarella as Event Coordinator!
On October 26th, 2017, the weather was lousy but still, 131 people enjoyed quite a party and helped raise $3,739 (after expenses) to help PAL (55+) enhance the lives of seniors living in South Winnipeg. Everyone enjoyed the evening – the food, the beverages, the music and time with friends. It was such fun!
Fundraising Dinner 2016
We were very pleased to welcome Nancy Gajdosik, PAL (55+) member, as our emcee, and Ray St. Germain as the evening’s entertainment, who delighted the guests with many old-time favourites.
A huge thank-you is extended to our dedicated Dinner Committee who met over the summer months to plan this event. They had a lot of fun and worked so well together as a team – brainstorming and putting ideas into action!
Many thanks also to the business community for supporting our 2016 Fundraising Dinner. We were able to put together 25 amazing gift baskets. We added to our fundraising with the Dufresne Raffle ($2,000 Gift Card) that will count towards the total amount raised from the Dinner and will go towards the PAL (55+) Building Fund.
