Volunteers with Financial Skills Needed

April 10, 2017

Are you a retired accountant or bookkeeper or do you know someone with these skills?

If so please read on for a message from PAL (55+) Executive:

Hello fellow members of PAL (55+) and interested community members,

We would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank Treasurer, Bev Witt and Financial Manager, Ann Tyre for their tremendous efforts in getting our financial house in order. Through their dedicated efforts, we are now in better shape than ever before, with newly developed financial policies, standard operating procedures and key financial forms in place. Unfortunately, due to individual personal circumstances, both Ann and Bev are resigning from their respective positions, one effective in April and the other in June.

We at PAL now find ourselves at a critical crossroads in our journey forward. Through personal contacts, we have been unable to find members to take on these important roles. So we are making a plea to all of our members. If you have an accounting background or bookkeeping background, please consider getting involved and helping PAL. The Treasurer’s role is one of oversight and would be a member of the Board. While the Financial Manager, (which may be more of a Financial Coordinator role) is a volunteer position with an honorarium to recognize that more hands-on work is required. Detailed job description are being prepared and will be available to anyone contemplating stepping up to help.

Now the reality is that if we cannot find members to take on these roles, we will be forced advertise for volunteers outside of the organization, as well as investigate the option of paying a salary for a part-time bookkeeper. This last option would directly affect the organization’s bottom line, and will impact our ability to save money towards a future facility.

Time is of the essence. Please consider helping out.

 Respectfully,

 PAL Executive
