Special Presentations
The Wellness, Leisure and Special Interests Series was initiated in the Fall of 2012. The Series was supported by the Government of Manitoba’s Neighbourhoods Alive! – LIFT program, and covered a wide range of topics suitable for both women and men. The presentation topics were chosen to enhance the intellectual, social and emotional well being of the participants.
There were ten presentations in all that included:
- Titanic: the Manitoba Connection (Anya Moodie-Foster of the Manitoba Museum)
- Mature Drivers Refresher Course (Manitoba Safety Services)
- CPR and the Automated External Defibrillator (Canadian First-Aid Training)
- Travel North America, the Caribbean and Europe (Embassy and Colette Tours)
- The Assiniboine Park Conservancy (Bran Adams)
- Herbs and Spices: Their Origins, Uses and Benefits (Red River College)
- Introduction to Homeopathy (Dr. Kumar Belgaumkar)
- Long Arm Quilting and More (Sandy Spence)
- Print Advertising: an Introduction (Dana Derkson)
- Tea Time (Agatha Moyer of CBC)
Several other series have followed.
The Programming Committee is accepting recommendations for future presentations and needs conveners to coordinate these sessions.
