PAL Making Connections Project seeking volunteers

October 22, 2019

UPDATED:   PAL is looking for volunteers for a special intercultural project which is intended to help PAL (55+)  become more inclusive and representative of the community it serves, and to fulfill PAL’s commitment to the Indigenous Accord. The desired results of the project include increasing the capacity of PAL (55+) to be welcome older adults of varying cultures; expand intercultural awareness, and promote understanding of various cultures; provide opportunities for programming and outreach; and to train volunteers to be leaders in community outreach. This initiative will run from now until the end of 2020. Time commitment for volunteers will vary depending on volunteer participation in specific events.

If you think participating in this project would be of interest to you, please join us at 1PM on Monday, November 4 at Grace Church to discuss the goals, ideas and volunteer roles.  Please contact J.handford@shaw.ca with any questions and to let us know if you will be attending.

The positions we are looking for include, but are not limited to:

  • 1 Outreach Coordinator (to coordinate events with a team of volunteers, depending on the cultural activity)
  • 5 – 8 cultural ambassadors (represent PAL and liaise with leaders from intercultural communities in PAL’s geographic area)
  • Event Coordinators (some events may include a lecture series, a mini-Folklorama-type event, visits to ethnocultural group activities)
