Corny Rempel Concert CANCELLED
After much consideration and in view of Federal, Provincial, and Municipal Government concerns about the transmission of COVID-19, the Board of Directors of Pembina Active Living (55+) cancelled and/or dall of its current programming and upcoming events until further notice.
The health of our members, their friends and families is important to us and we believe that this step is necessary to help prevent the transmission of COVID-19.
The Corny Rempel Fundraising Concert scheduled for April 4th is cancelled. PAL (55+) will refund the money to those that have bought tickets. The Fundraising Committee will be working with Corny Rempel to reschedule the concert for a later date.
Note: A Charitable Tax Receipt will be issued to any ticket holder wishing to use their concert ticket refund as a donation to Pembina Active Living.
To request a refund, please email info@pal55plus.com and include ticket number, full name, address, phone number and email. As our Office is closed until further notice, we will email you to let you know when to come in to return your ticket and to pick up your refund.
If you have any questions please contact PAL: by phone at 204-946-0839 or by email at info@pal55plus.com.
Thank you and stay well.
Food and Wine Pairing Gala Evening – September 26, 2019
Once again, a huge thank you to Riverwood Square! Heather Malazdrewicz (Director of First Impressions) and the helpful RS staff always provide us with a memorable PAL (55+) fundraising event. We all enjoyed quite a party – the food, the beverages, the music, and fun times with friends. Who says that seniors can’t dance up a storm! And a tour of their display suite upstairs in the residence was a real treat!
The rainy weather didn’t keep our guests from attending. We welcomed Terry Duguid (MP, Winnipeg South) and his assistant Lacey Sanders; Janice Morley-Lecomte (MLA, Seine River) and her assistant Stephanie McDowell; and we were sorry to hear that Sarah Guillemard (MLA, Fort Richmond) wasn’t able to use her ticket that evening due to other commitments.
We are always so thankful for the support of our community businesses that provide us with door prizes for our events. Please see the list below of donors and winners.
And of course, we couldn’t function at any of our events without the dedicated PAL (55+) volunteers! Thanks so much for all your help — taking tickets at the Registration Table, providing directions at the entrances, taking photos, or selling 50/50 tickets during the evening.

Sisters of the Holy Rock Concert April 27, 2019
Thank you to the 270 PAL members, family and friends who attended the Sisters of the Holy Rock concert on April 27. The Sisters did an outstanding job and a great time was had by all, plus your support raised almost $5,000 for PAL! The audience appreciated the “Sisters” (and brothers) musicality, humour and polished performance and the uplifting music and joyful spirit of the “Sisters” inspired a standing ovation. And a big thank you to all the volunteers whose efforts made the concert a success – the ticket sellers, the posterers, those who promoted the concert in a myriad of ways and the folks who not only paid for a ticket but also worked at the event as greeters, ticket sellers, ticket takers and ushers. You’re the reason PAL continues to succeed.
Food and Wine Pairing Gala Evening November 22, 2018
Once again, a huge thank you to Riverwood Square! Heather Malazdrewicz (Director of First Impressions) and the helpful RS staff always provide us with a memorable PAL (55+) fundraising event. And a tour of their display suite upstairs in the residence is a real treat!
The cold weather didn’t keep our guests from coming out — so much so, that we ran out of coat racks and hangers and had to improvise and stack a few coats in the Games Room. Janice Lukes (City Councillor – Waverley West) and Jon Reyes (MLA – St. Norbert), always welcome guests at any of our events, attended and Lee Fehler came by to represent Terry Duguid (MP – Winnipeg South) who was out of town that day. Sarah Guillemard (MLA – Fort Richmond) wasn’t able to use her ticket that evening due to other commitments.
The highlight of the evening was the introduction of the Pembina Active Living (55+) film. A big shout-out to Alan Wong who is the filmmaker/director of this new venture for us. Pearl Young, age 94, is one of the PAL (55+) members featured in the film and it was delightful that Pearl was able to attend the Wine Pairing and see the premiere showing of the film.
And Linda Rzeszutek was very surprised and honoured (and unusually quiet) when Bob Roehle presented her with an Award of Commitment from the Manitoba Association of Senior Centres (MASC).
We are always so thankful for the support of our community businesses that provide us with door prizes for our events. Please see the list below of donors and winners.

Dufresne Raffle
Dufresne graciously donated a $2,000 GIFT CARD that was raffled off at the 2016 Fundraising Dinner. Many thanks go to Terry and Don Duguid for arranging this with Dufresne, and a huge thank you to Shaun Dufresne for his generous support of PAL (55+). Last year, Dufresne provided a lovely sofa and two-seater for our raffle. The raffle was won by Kathleen McLennan. Here she is with some of her lovely new Dufresne furniture,
